Group Guidelines

☙ 1. DUE DILIGENCE:

By RSVPing to any of our event you agree to our Liability Waiver!

RSVP: You must include your guest(s) in your RSVP. You are expected to update your RSVP as soon as possible, it is the courteous thing to do for your host and attending members. Cancelling your RSVP less than 24 hours in advance will be considered the same as a "No-Show". If you have a valid reason to cancel within 24 hours of the Event, please send me a message or leave a explanation in the comment area to avoid being marked as "No-Show". Read the FAQs about "No-Show" and last minute cancellations.

NO-SHOW: If you "No-show" on your first Event with our group, or you "No-Show" more than twice, you could be removed from the group or/and be assessed a "No-Show fee". Also, if you have a "No-show" you may be barred from attending future events. You will also be marked "No-show" if you brought guests you didn't include in your RSVP or attended an event where you are not marked as "Going" or if you changed your RSVP to "Not-going" after the stated deadline (usually 24 Hours). You could be deleted of the group without warning if you "No Show" more than 2 times.

WAITLIST: Some Events are better suited to small groups and different Event-organizers have different comfort levels. Our Event-organizers are volunteers, and walks are supposed to be fun for them too. Therefore, every Event-organizers makes his/her own choices about group size.

FEES: To ensure “NJ Walk n' Talk” continues to operate without interruption, it has to become self-sustained, therefore there is a suggested donation of $1 for most Events to cover the group fees paid to Meetup.com by the Organizer. You can also choose to pay $5 for all events for the current year (Jan-Dec). Read the FAQs about your Paid Status.

COMMENTS: Becoming vocal is an essential part of group planning. Please use the comment section to ask questions and give feedback. Additionally, remember to check the meetup's comments and status days...hours... and even right before you head out of the house to see if any changes or updates have been posted.

☙ 2. CONDUCT & HARASSMENT:

First and foremost, please understand that the purpose of our group is NOT dating, some of our members are in a relationship or if single may not be interested in a relationship at this moment in their life. Our group is all about meeting up in person for wholesome fun and creating new friendships, that said, if you find your other-half here, we will be happy for you. Failure to abide to the following Basic Principles will get you removed from the group.

BASIS PRINCIPALS:

    1. Respecting basic human rights.
    2. Prohibition of sexual and power harassment.
    3. Respect for foreign cultures and customs.
    4. Compliance with Laws and Regulations of the Venues
    5. Prohibition of conduct that causes distress to other people.
    6. Firearms are always prohibited.
    7. Prohibition of the possession and use of illegal drugs during our events.

You may get deleted without warning if you are on here sending mass messages to people you have never met. Refrain from using our Meetup Group and its members solely for solicitation.

Please be tasteful in the way you choose to start a conversation and understand that we have no tolerance for lack of respect or harassment of any kind within our group. Be very mindful of your jokes and comments, not everyone has the same tolerance or sense of humor. If you are receiving odd messages, please contact me so I can research and delete/ban accordingly.

☙ 3. PHOTO POLICY:
For consistency, it is mandatory that you upload a current CLEAR profile photo of yourself, where your face if visible, so that members of our group can recognize who will be joining them on our events. Distorted pictures, photos of your back, pets, cute animals, cartoons, beautiful landscapes, flowers, etc. are not acceptable photographs. For security reasons, members without a picture of themselves will be removed from the group.

Also please expect that your photo may or may not get taken at our meetup events. By attending, you hereby give us permission to use your photo on our websites that are used for promotional purposes with intentions of expanding our group as well as to show newcomers what past meetups/events look like. If there is a photo that you would like pulled down, simply message one of the organizers and we will make sure this is done ASAP. We fully respect the privacy and safety of each and every one of our members.

☙ 4. NO KIDS, NO PETS:
Creating adult/kid/pets friendly event is non negotiable. Unless your kid is 18+... we must enforce the NO KIDS policy. Thank you for understanding. This is coming from a LIABILITY standpoint and respecting the preference of our members.

☙ 5. WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS:
We aim to keep our group welcoming and friendly, therefore it is requested that all of our members reach out to welcome new attendees, introducing them to our fellow friends, as some of us might be nervous on our first meetup.

☙ 6. GUIDELINES FOR EVENT HOSTS:
The Organizers will be seeking the help of others to act as Hosts/Hostesses for upcoming Meetup events. Please volunteer if you think you can provide that service for the benefit of the group.

Only Event host can change details for their Events. As par of the Leadership team, feel free to message the host and offer to help, but do not make changes to someone else's Event without their permission.

If and existing event has attendees, Event host should not cancel the Event without first trying to get another host to take over, in order to mitigate confusion for attendees.

All Event host are expected to be respectful and mindful of other guests while on the trail, especially those that we don't know well.

Hosts will be expected to answer questions posed by those interested in the event, to greet event attendees, as possible, and to make all attendees feel welcome to the event. Hosts must alert the Organizers of any concerns about the conduct of Members or Participants, especially the failure by any Member or Participant to abide by the conduct expected and outlined in these Guidelines and in the Liability Waiver.

Please Note,

The $5 yearly donation is nonrefundable even if you are removed from “NJ Walk n' Talk” for failing to follow the GROUP GUIDELINES.
